Velika Britanija još nije odlučila hoće li poslati ratni brod radi obrane svoje zračne baze na Cipru, kazao je izvor upućen u to pitanje u utorak, nakon što je list Times objavio da su ministri raspravljali o toj mogućnosti.

Bespilotna letjelica iranske proizvodnje je pogodila pistu vojne baze u Akrotiriju rano u ponedjeljak. London je rekao da je Iran gađao britanske ciljeve.

Prema izvješću Timesa, u kojem se citiraju tri izvora, ministar obrane John Healey se u utorak sastao s višim vojnim dužnosnicima s kojima je raspravljao o slanju razarača HMS Duncan u regiju.

Ministarstvo obrane nije odmah odgovorilo na zahtjev za komentarom o tom izvješću.

Ciparska novinska agencija (CNA) je ranije u utorak objavila da Francuska namjerava na Cipar poslati sustave za obranu od balističkih projektila i dronova.
